Have any of you heard of Morse Code? Morse code is a language where dots and dashes represent letters. For example, my name in Morse code would be -- .-. ... -.. --- -- . -.-
I just finished reading a great book over the weekend. The Mysterious Benedict Society involves four gifted orphan children (Reynie, Sticky, Kate, Constance) who answer ads through a newspaper and meet Mr. Benedict. After a series of tests, they are selected to help save the world from a mastermind who wants to take over the world by "brainsweeping" people. The story follows the children as they become spies at an Institute. While there, they communicate with Mr. Benedict in Morse code in the evenings via flashlights when the coast is clear. Will they be able to help Mr. Benedict in time? The last page of the book is a mystery in itself: the author gives his first name as a clue to be found in the book! I loved it! This will be popular with both boys and girls. It is similar to Harry Potter in a way that the four friends remind me of Harry, Hermoine, and Ron. Happy reading!
